We're a small company hiring a member of staff who will need a car (as part of the package), but in these slightly uncertain times I'd rather not commit to anything beyond his 3mth probation in case it (him, or the industry, or the economy) goes badly wrong.

Has anyone used a reliable solution for this in the past, ideally with all costs (insurance etc.) bundled in? Looking at the big names (Sixt et al) it seems a lot more expensive that I'd have initially thought.

Advice appreciated.

Speak to a few rental branches and have a chat, they will often do a deal for a set term.

We were in the same boat , but the employee can’t start full time and that suits us in tricky Covid times . We opted to buy a cheap shed and hope it lasts 3 months, also it’s a good incentive to get them up to speed . Hit targets and we lease a car , don’t and your stuck in a noddy car till things pick up .
If you get rental watch the insurance as we found hidden excess charges so it got very expensive if the worst happened.

Unfortunately this guy is in B2B sales, so we'd prefer him to have something newer/ish to be visiting high value clients in.

Get that BMW 550i Touring that's was covered by PH article this week. Looks good. Might eat fuel though. £10k and will still be worth £10k in 3 months.

Or other similar car. Plenty of good looking cars at £10k price point that would be suitable for sales.

I think the Jaguar Land Rover 'Pivotal' scheme can be run for 3 months, includes insurance and not bad mileage allowance.
