Popping my poll cherry....
Trying to get a feel for whats going on out there.
Business is very weird this last week and we obviously have to make a choice at some point on what to do.
I have sent out about a dozen emails to customers and so far they have all replied with they are staying open.
Contacted my top 5 suppliers and they are all saying the same thing.
I appreciate the is industry is a variable, but what are your plans?

I work from home, but often make house calls, and have customers visiting. I haven't been letting customers inside my house since early March, and it will stay that way for the foseeable.
I am expecting the phone to stop ringing with new enquires though. Didn't get a single call for 7 weeks during the last lockdown. Bit of a pain, as same as last time I won't qualify for any government help.

Construction here. Currently at 28 staff, all busy at the moment. However, we have a framework with a local council and I feel they (or should I say the staff union), will get twitchy about site visits and thus may close us down if the Welsh Assembly extend the Firebreak. That will put 10 jobs at risk although we can furlough in the short term (I'm hoping?).
Decided to close, work is drying up fast and I don't want to end up behind the curve with the wages.
We normally break even in November or make a small loss but if work stays at this level we could well make a large loss.
Will furlough everyone tomorrow. I suspect its going to longer than 4 weeks, but we will see.
It will be my first day off since February so I am actually quietly looking forward to it!

Non essential electronics retail here and staying open.
We've moved the cash desk from the back of the store to the front and will serve people off the street. Mainly click and collect from the web but can take telephone orders as well. So if someone turns up wanting to buy as long as they call from outside thats a telephone order as far as I'm concerned.
With much of the large competition closing we'll probably do OK. Time will tell.

I work from home in property/housing/development so no change for me.
My thoughts are with all those who have to close businesses again. I really worry about them and I worry for their employees. I have good friends who have already lost companies/businesses in events, entertainment and hospitality. Absolutely awful.
I think many have been hanging on by their fingertips over these last few months, especially pubs, bars and restaurants, and this may well be the straw that breaks the camels back for a lot of places.
Good luck everyone.
