Anyone know of any energy companies with no standing charge for electricity as we hardly use any for our business. I've tried a comparison site but they need a phone number to discuss and I am not keen on sharing my number to get hounded. The landlord originally paid this because it was pennies but now the daily rate has jumped up as contract has expired.

There are very few that will do no standing charge.
Even if they will, you will be asked for your estimated annual usage, and they will just build it into the unit rate.

Best bet is to ring round a few and get the best overall cost based on what you use, not concentrate on the standing charge as that may not get you the best deal.

There are referral codes also available for discounts which will also get you £50-100 credit with certain suppliers. I can’t offer them due to rules on here but I’m sure if you PM’d I could tell you.

As a general guide standing charges for business electricity are approximately 20-30p / day, so £6-9 / month so not that huge in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for the reply. I've just phoned the landlord and I can just move over to the current suppliers 3 year deal which works out at £15 per month so might just do that. I didn't realise how little we spent as the l/lord said we only used 75k/w this year due to covid and the bils the previous year were £5-10 per month with no standing charges.

I had the same issue with our lockup. Went with EDF, pay a very high rate per unit but very cheap daily standing charge. Currently on £8 per month and had a rebate for £30 last month.
When I changed to them the sales person couldn’t understand why I’d want such a high unit rate. In the winter I use a few LEd lights, now and then some workshop tools like band saws etc. Still very cheap.
So, ask your supplier for their lowest daily standing charge but be prepared for a high rate. Works for me.
Bizarrely they kept chasing me to put a smart meter in. That has now been done so I don’t even have to give them a meter reading.

I work in a large energy supplier looking after business customers.
I typically deal with large users (20GWh+/pa), but my team can provide fixed price quotes for lower usage.
FWIW, they are able to reduce the SC, but it is just put into the unit rate (equivalent).

PM me if you need.
