Not a business question, but I think this sub-forum might be the best fit.

I want to buy a piece of furniture from the US but the retailer won't ship here.

Any recommendations for freight forwarders that can pick-up the box from a NJ warehouse and ship to London?
Box is 36"x36"x30" and weighs 225lb.

Best and only quote I found online is DHL who want $750 (before taxes and duty).

Are you in a rush for it?
If not you can have it shipped over in a container, STS Imports bring a container over monthy ( i think) and normally takes 6-8 weeks but is a fraction of the cost

$750 is a bargain for something that size and weight

Dont be part of the race to the bottom,
Use your local forwarder
They are the ones who donate to your local foodbanks

Practically speaking, we get it alot,

I ship out stuff worth a fortune and people scrimp on packing and freight costs, like you wouldn't believe
Stuf

Use someone local, who can give you the mawb no. Then you can track it rather than the hawb

That doesn't seem unreasonable given the weight!

Get on the internet and email a couple.

If you want some advice ask them if it’s a Consol (with other stuff) or a back to back (on its own).
Aka them for the flight details.
The mawb you want begins with a sequence xxx-xxxx xxxx

You can track it over the internet off that.
