Hi.

Hopefully, someone can help, we've searched on .gov and are none the wiser.

We started a project in November for a client in Ireland. We will be invoicing in Jan/Feb. The deliverables will be a report and a few drawings/maps, all sent over email/file share.

Does anyone know;

• Do tariffs apply to exporting professional services and if so, who pays them (exporter from UK or importer to EU)?
• Do we charge UK Vat knowing they are in the EU? Presumably, we are leaving the EU VAT scheme?!

Thanks in advance.

Whatever the rules are today, they will be different tomorrow (and I really mean that).

Indeed. But do we know the rules yet?

By coincidence, I took part in 2.30 hour seminar on Post Brexit VAT rules yesterday - I'm a bit punch drunk from all that. I'll get back to you when I have absorbed it all.

How you account for VAT when dealing with businesses or people in other EU countries depends on lots of factors. Some businesses may even need to register for VAT in the countries to which they sell - depending on the level of business they conduct in that country. Get professional advice.
