Has anyone had the second retail grant yet?
I just keep getting told to apply for the local support grant however it does not apply to us.
Have the plans changed?

We didn't apply for the first and automatically received the second a couple of weeks ago with a further £1K for every 15 days of lockdown.

We have two sites. I got my first 2x £2k grants and then the 2x £6k ones, next payment of 2x £2k is paid 22nd of Feb which is 4 weeks in arrears. I originally applied under the strategic framework scheme when we closed in November. I'm in Scotland if that makes a difference.

We got the first one right at the beginning of Covid (last march/April)

We've been told we can't get the current one as we can operate over the phone and email etc.

(Insurance broker in this case)

So I have spoken to the LA and they tell me that the grants are only for businesses that are *required* to close.
If you are open, or close of your own free will, then you don't get the grant.
Rishi did not make that clear during his speech!!! No big deal, however this now explains why a good few places locally that are "retail" are shut now but were open during LD1.

We are required to close and have been for quite a while (tier 4 before lockdown) but because our clients can ring us we aren't eligible apparently and as they stated on their last two emails to me - THERE IS NO RIGHT OF APPEAL.

Got our 1st one during lock down 1, got letter from council to apply with a code, did so got our money.

Applied for the new grant last week after a email from the council, took us to the same page, filled it all in, got refused

Reason "not mandated to close" called them up ask if we should be open or not told we should be closed. OK why you knocked us back ? let me look into this.

She called me back today, says as we are a bicycle shop we can stay open, i explained that we are a Motorcycle shop and sell parts and accessory's and had nothing to do with bicycles, she then put me on hold, O as you a motor dealer you can stay open, again i said that we are not a dealer for cars or bikes.

I also pointed out that all car showrooms are closed as i had to buy a new car for our daughter 2 weeks ago and could not visit the showroom as they were told they had to close.

Awaiting a phone call tomorrow about it

Don't hold much hope

I was rejected initially but appealed on the basis that we are a non-essential retail business, and received just under £11k last week.

We have one running in Bucks called an Additional Restrictions Grant.

If we can prove over 30% downturn in our business between 2020 and 2021 month to month then we can apply providing we are not already covered by the LRSG or Self-employed and using the Income Support Scheme.

Just applied for Jan, and had payment for Nov and Dec.

And its still a no for us, we are now a motorcycle repair shop !

As i have said we are a parts and accessory shop, dont repair or sell motorcycles. We are down on google as "Motorcycle parts store"

I pointed out that 3 more shops parts shops in our area are also closed.

Going in for our 4th try next week

Thanks for that. Everything I'd seen was for closed businesses and it turns out our council are doing ARG too.
