Hi,

Dont really know where to start with this other than I am hoping that someone can offer me some advice or guidance as to what to do.

I currently work and have a very good job, though something about it tells me that it is not 100% what I am wanting to do.

I have always been into prestige/high powered cars and I appreciate like many people, would like to work alongside them in some form. All be it the research element has not been truely looked into I feel there is still a gap in the market for the hiring of exclusive cars, be that by day, by weekend or by week.

So I guess my question to you guys is......what advice does any one have for me, be that contacts, handy hints etc etc.

Like I said I ahve a very good job and could not look at sacrificing this entirely at this stage to persue this dream, however, should the time arise whereby it seems viable to do so then I will have no hesitation whatsoever!!

Many thanks for your help in advance!!

There's not really a gap as many companies offer this service.

Even National Car Rentals will hire you a Ferrari or Porsche (albiet through their Guy Salmon operation).

The biggest problem is stock. Buying the cars is out of the question as you'd be operating for years before you see any profit (that's assuming you could raise the couple of £million capital needed in the first place!). Leasing could be an option but the margins would be minimal.

You could ask owners but I don't know of many that would be happy to loan out their GT3 to a couple of blokes on a stag weekend....at any price.

And we haven't even got to the insurance yet.

I'd suggest that you'd make more money renting out vans.

I agree with Steve on this, there really are loads of people doing this already who are extremely well funded, and every couple of months we hear about a new car club that never seems to develop any further.

Not a well researched idea, I'm afraid

I certainly wouldn't lend mine out to someone i didn't know...

How much money have you got to throw away?

are you single?

It's fine, hope i didn't come across too bolshy!!

But there are many, many hire companies...

..they all seem a bit samey, if you had a unique gimmick or sales tack, you might have a chance...

err, taking owners pets to the vet in you ferrari?
school runs?
Waitrose deliveries? (curries, pizza??)
Ambulance service?
really porsche cleaning service?

Outside the box might work...

Just find that niche - good luck...

Some interesting ideas there........

Its a tricky route to go down really isnt it! Guess I just want to explore avenues other than what I am currently doing! Somehting more exciting, that I love and would get more satisfaction from!

Appreciate that I am saying what 99.9% of everyone says too!!

The thing with business is that you shouldn't let your heart rule your head. Sure you need to be passionate about what you do but at the end of the day, it has to yield a profit.

Just because you're interested in something and knoweldgeable about the subject, it doesn't mean that it will automatically lead to a sensible business proposition.

Best of luck!

Oddly enough that's what the woman on 'Dragon's Den' does... I suspect many try and most fail.
