Tech Product - Reaching out to journalists?
Discussion
So we have recently released some new products in the Consumer Electronics market - think Power Banks, Chargers etc
They have a number of unique features (both technical and physical) and are targeted more towards 'power users'. They are already selling on our Website, Amazon etc and are well received by customers.
As this market is relatively saturated we are looking to gain some additional exposure. We see that most Tech sites and Newspapers churn out articles every few days along the lines of 'Top 5 USB C Chargers/Power Banks' and the odd hands on review (sometimes not even hands on).
We want to get our products featured in these articles but are hitting a brick wall. We are reaching out via email but receiving nothing back. We know that these guys must get 100's of emails everyday so maybe we are being buried and never looked at. There is also the possibility that they are just not interested in the products. However, we look at their current articles and our products offer better performance at a more affordable price point compared to what they are listing.
Is it necessary to hire a PR firm? We have heard this is the best way to gain actual traction, however, the fees are extortionate - around £2k per month!
Just looking for some general guidance around this
