I have a new product that I have been working on for a bit and now its ready to go I want to grab the attention of an existing player in my target market, hopefully to license the IP rights out to.

I have been doing the Linked In route, networking etc. but is there another method that would be attention grabbing?

Any suggestions?

Yep. Why sit and wait for years hoping they will chance upon a Linkedin page when you can just get the name and get on the blower?

Just make sure you protect your IP really well.

Mate of mine designed something, showed it to a buyer of a well known catalogue shop in the late 90s. They borrowed a prototype, and 3 weeks later said they weren't interested.
6 months later they were all over the show being made in China.

Player - singular?

If so, as V8 says, just pick up the phone. Use LinkedIn or their website to find the name of the person you need to speak with.

If it should be 'Players' then the same applies unless there are a great many in which case, targeted Linkedin Advertising with good content would be the best route

Try 'Patent Landscaping'. This type of search is used by licensing agents to identify licensing targets.

Agree, phone them up and if needed send a letter ahead. If you get the secretary screening calls just tell them that you are arranging an evening drinks get together and need names for the invite, they will probably add their own plus the boss.

IP protection is in place as is the ability to enforce it if required.

Gutted for your mate, I'm aware of these horror stories and have been extra cautious so far. I think this is why I'm looking for pragmatic suggestions in changing tack.
