Building a million dollar business in 90 days
Discussion
There's a TV show here in the US. It's a bit brain-out but can be interesting.
The premise is these guys who are pretty successful elsewhere change their visual appearance and then go to a town where they have no contacts. They have $100 in cash and a vehicle. Nothing else.
Their challenge is that they have 90 days to build a business. At the end of that 90 day process, the business is valued and the aim is to have a business worth more than a million bucks.
With the above premise ($100 + 90 days), what would your business be to build it to a million dollar valuation?

Guess most of the ideas will be tech/app/online shopping which I know little about or importing bricks and cutting them….
I know land and property, so I would be focussing on obtaining option and promotion agreements on land with very good development potential which is likely to get planning in near or distant future. I wouldn’t be able to get planning submitted and approved in timeframes, so would be playing on hope value come valuation time.

I always wondered if there was an opportunity for some kind of business 'course' etc to get people from zero to 'live'/trading in , say a week.
Yep, sell books called 'How to make a million in 90 days'
Back in the day of 'That's Life' they mentioned a company offering a way to save money on your electricity bill - in return for a small payment of course. They then sent you a bit of paper which said 'Use less electricity'. As it was a valid way to reduce your bill I think they got away with it

Yes - it's undercover billionaire.
Season 1 (2019) was a guy called Glenn Stearns. He built a BBQ restaurant.
Season 2 (2020) changed format to have 3 people. Grant Cardone, Monique Idlett-Mosley and Elaine Culotti.
Grant did a marketing agency (with a real estate twist). Monique started a juicing business. Elaine built a mini hotel/deli/coffee shop etc.
Obviously the intention is for it to be legal etc. Curious what the best PH idea would be!

Not sure I'd have the energy to watch it, but I'd love to know what businesses they create that actually work.
Stuff like drop shipping is massively over-hyped as a 'get rich quick' scheme, and heavily dependent on people knowing how to set up a lot of moving parts with the right idea for products. You can see it's oversaturated from the number of people posting YouTube videos telling you how to become a millionaire "like them"...
...but then I'm probably just bitter that I'm crap at marketing, and have a string of "didn't quite make it" projects behind me.

Yes - I think drop shipping would be tough. The Moose said:

How well do the guys do?
How genuine does the whole thing feel (as the TV company needs them to do well or the show flops...).
And lastly, quickly sell a similar show to a UK channel and beyond before it crosses the pond

I watched all three series including Glens follow up, Comeback city.
It seems pretty genuine in the sense of pushing forward an idea and turning it around quickly, but there were parts where things seems to conveniently land in their laps in the same way Bear Grills happens upon a fresh carcass just as he’s starving.
That could just be a British take on things though, I think we’d be much more cautious of a guy rocking up asking for digs/investment etc than the USA ‘**** Yeah!’ approach. I definitely couldn’t see it working here.
Go big or…

Sat night, got some friends round need a bottle of something....everyone's pissed so can't drive....
Alcohol delivery by drone using W3W. Hovers over the house, released - parachutes down.
You'd need a feed from the weather forecast to compensate for wind drift, or it'll end up two doors away...
Looking at the price of bottled water at a few festivals over the summer, I reckon you could do that. £100 gets 500 bottles of water and at their prices that brings back £1250. £2.50 a bottle. Reinvest twice and you’re looking at 120k in no time. It’s a way from a million but gives the capital to expand to something else. Maybe a few Ice Cream vans.
