PayPal 3DS Payments & Shopify

We run our business through Shopify platform and use PayPal as our merchant bank for payment processing. All has been fine until the last 2 weeks when random customers are failing security on visa / MasterCard payments. We have tried to update our shopify / PayPal checkout to accept 3D security but are getting nowhere as neither supplier seems to want to support it. Has anyone else had issues or a way to fix it without changing PayPal to another payment eg shopify payments?

Why are you using Pay Pal? They are awful at just about everything with the highest fees! They also have a habit of changing things their end without telling anyone ending in situations like you find yourself in. Have you looked on Shopify forums to see if others have the same issue?

I assume you using Pay Pal Pro? By memory they changed the way 3DS is implemented, Cardinal Centinel to Cardinel Cruise, we dropped Pro for this reason (among others). Can you give more info on your integration & anything in your logs?

Shop Pay does have 3D Secure on selected payments now, seeing it more and more often on our orders.

Why not use Shop Pay and PayPal? The fees aren’t much different unless you’re on Shopify Plus and don’t have the 1% transaction fee on alternative gateways.
