Evening

Probably a daft question, but if I use gsp, do I automatically get visibility on the USA eBay site for the item without paying the usual up front charge for it? I assume if so the final value charge would be increased for an international sale (which is fine).

Cheers

You don't show up by participating in the GSP, that depends on the settings of the person who is searching for items. What it will do is give that person a shipping cost and estimated import tax cost so they can see the full cost before purchase.

So when I list an item and have the option to have international site visibility, if I don’t select this USA buyers can still see my item if they search internationally?

No I don’t think so. He means if you did tick usa as a place you will ship to, it still depends on the customer on their own account ticking to see international items. If they tick us only they still won’t see your item.

I always say I’ll ship to the USA in the postage options, but there is a separate tick box for international site visibility which costs (I think 50p per listing).

Ah ok I didn’t realise. Ignore my ramblings. Seems a bit off if you tick to say you ship internationally but then no one sees it unless you pay an extra charge and tick that too.

You show up in search unless the buyer filters out overseas suppliers.

It looks like this but in reverse.

So, showing up on the USA site without paying for USA site visibility (assuming the buyer hasn’t filtered out overseas suppliers)?

Thanks

I have quite a few enquiries from overseas, I never tick any option boxes. If it's a UK specific item I'm selling, or one I only want to ship to the UK, I've unticked the GSP box, but still got overseas enquiries. It is all a bit confusing. I've had to cancel orders from overseas before when I don't want to ship the item abroad.

You can make it UK-only a few ways, but here's the best (assuming you're not locked into "postage policies" which is different)

Go to your "My Ebay" tab at the top, then "Selling"
Under "shortcuts" click "Site Preferences"
On the left there's a small list of links. Click "Postage Preferences"
Then beside "Exclude Postage Locations", click "Edit"
Now tick beside each international continent/group, and "also apply to current listings" (if you have any)
Now click "Save"

this should do it, regardless of GSP

PS. I don't use GSP as I find anything Ebay-defined/controlled to be a poor option. Just use Royal Mail unless it needs regular/large courier work
