Ask them? I chair a wellbeing committee in work and we tend to get better engagement for events that the 'site' comes up with, rather than what we think is fun (especially if you've tried the usual stuff). You might already be doing this, but also consider time zones/timing - my company (global) often does events in evening UK time, which means giving up 'home' time to stay engaged, not really the point!
