EBay
I’ve noticed more and more Chinese sellers on eBay are adding vat at the check out.
How can eBay let them get away with that, they can’t be vat registered?

Is it UK VAT?

For some foreign purchases you'll now have VAT added at checkout, but this is a result of where you are vs where the seller is, I can't think how a seller would manually add it, i.e. its going through Ebay's payment processing, not the seller's

If I sell stuff to a country that charges VAT I also now get charged Ebay fees on the VAT amount, which is fun

Its not just Uk, they are looking to introduce it where I live in S E Asia, its being administrated by the selling platform, dependent on country of supply and delivery, nothing to do with the seller, he will recieve the net advertised price as before.
