Ok - I am fed up with the local printing works ripping me off for business cards at £98 a throw.

Did a Google and have found a couple of places offering business card printing services from £14.99 on 350-400 gsm white card.

Anyone got any recommendations? Thought about printing our own but our colour laser printer is not really up to the job.

Thanks

Jim

VistaPrint|www.vistaprint.co.uk are doing 250 business cards for £10.24 at the moment.

My business uses them for business cards, flyers, letterhead, etc. and have found their service to be outstanding and the prices very low.

Personally I knock the cards together myself using Adobe Illustrator CS but they have lots of templates you can use too.

My recommendation is a full colour front with the glossy finish. We don't bother printing anything on the back.

Finally, be aware the uploading a custom design and delivery are extra and that the cards are US size so slightly smaller than the UK 'standard' (though this seems to vary too).

Hope this helps.

Unless you have the proper facilities - don't print your own.

Your letterhead, compliment slip and business card give an imression of your company and I really wouldn't skimp on them.

I've used these guys www.cardsmadeeasy.com/ did the artwork myself and uploaded, laminate is top quality and makes a very nice looking card, quick and cheap. You also get PDF proofs etc included in price [some charge extra for this!]

Another vote here for vistaprint
Just order standard delivery, which is usually a lot quicker than advertised.

I can't imagine how anyone could make any money doing work that cheap?!!

I know it must be digital but even so...they still have overheads and depreciation!

I bet having 10000 orders a day helps to keep prices down...

Yes but every order still needs administration and each one has to be despatched to an individual address.

I could be wrong, business cards are not our thing at all. I used to print them years ago....I don't miss it!

www.goodprint.co.uk

All the good bit of Vistaprint, with none of the bad. Great gallery of 'design on line', plus the facility to upload your own artwork.

You can do other things online too. Match full suite of stationery to cards, leaflets all sorts.
30 A3 colour posters of your P&J for £62?

Great service, excellent print quality.

I wouldn't recommend PPL. Unless you like to look cheap that is.

I've actually had a client laugh at me when I presented him with mine.

It seems to me (owning my own large format and short run digital print co.) that you won't get rich or make money in the business card or litho print game at this end of the market.

The minimum cost of a digital offset machine worth having is £250k and then you have to run it. You don't sell cards for £20 and make money. If you are, the quality will be pretty awful and wait until you make a complaint. I'd place a bet that a customer service is a dept they don't have.

We print short run digital forms all day long and yes we make money. Major blue chip companies send print ready pdf's today for delivery tomorrow and that's what they want and that's what they get....never let down and the best job money can buy, but if you want quality you have to pay for it.

Whilst business cards are a very, very small part of our business, we charge £90 for a 4/4 card + laminating at £130 to cover up to 15 names.

You may ask are we busy?

Our turnover and profit has doubled over the last 3 years and I'm happy with that.
