Chaps,

whats the usual protocol here, small accountancy firm so don't need a majorly creative design but i do need something to put on the letterhead,

what do you guys all normally do?

Do you not have a Graphic Designer as a client?

Logo design is just part of what you need to think about: How will the logo sit on the website? What about the house font? Colours - look nice on a logo but do they work elsewhere?...

Worth spending a little extra and asking someone who knows what they're doing to do it.

https://www.fiverr.com/ is where I find my initial designs, then if something takes off I get something more pro made.

had good work done with freelancer.com - Paid about £30 for a logo and business card design a few years ago

i do agree, the "whole" package needs to be thought about

I have used Fiverr a few times for various projects that I knew would be short lived, but needed a logo etc. I found it to be very good. I would follow the above advice and get a few designs knocked up for a few quid each, and then if you really need the ideas expanding into a brand you can pass them to a professional.
