Hosting/retaining a phone number

Hi all,

I have a UK phone number which I'd like to use in the future. However, I have no use for it right now.

Is there any way to "host" it somewhere very cheaply/free?

I currently have it on a VirtualLandline plan for £10 a month, which is trivial, but every time I see the payment come out I feel like it's money for nothing (and I'm stingy).
