Ecommerce Agency Idea Feedback
Discussion
Keen to get a sense check on an idea from the old hands in the PH business section.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading various threads on here over the years charting business challenges and successes.
I'm an e-commerce guy and have worked for various businesses for the last 25 years, selling tons of different products. Always client side, but have worked with various agencies over the years. I've also done ad hoc freelance work in that time but I'd like to make that side of things a bit more permanent to allow some flexibility in life.
My experience is across all of e-commerce and I really enjoy the trading / merchandising aspects of it but I feel that is a much harder sell.
My idea focuses on an agency to serve businesses who sell on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, OnBuy etc.
Rather than a traditional agency model of a retainer or revenue share, I am thinking of offering a pay as you go / productised service to help busy businesses get stuff done. Like Fiverr or People Per Hour I guess but focussed on marketplace services.
Targeting busy and growing businesses who know what they need but just need a hand doing it during busy periods. They would be not quite at the stage of needing or being able to employ someone full time.
It could also be used by other agencies to allow them to take on more work.
The website would have digital products on it that you buy for a known price with 72 hour turnaround. eg list five new products on eBay, set up a new Amazon sponsored product campaign, create Amazon A+ content for a listing, create a set of images for a listing etc.
It's the sort of service I have cobbled together for employers over the years with remote freelancers and I've seen this model work incredibly well in the SEO world.
There's some challenges from AI taking on some tasks but I feel there's still enough specialist human knowledge of the platforms that is needed to not make us redundant just yet.
I'm starting from ground zero in terms of contacts so cold outreach, LinkedIn, PR, social and trying to find some cheap keywords on Google Ads is my plan for building traffic to the site. I'm not confident on camera so TikTok and YouTube are probably not top of the list, even though they are probably ideal.
Get an MVP out and go for it or don't be so daft?

Hmm
To much cobbled not enough focus I think
I use 2 Amazon guys who can list, promote, set up API s, create vouchers, appeal etc.
Both are full just doing Amazon support.
If you want to go freelance offer it to agencies (you ll get paid). These days I ll only use a freelancer that comes into the office - my preference.
Otherwise crack on loads of work out there just don t confuse what you re offering.
Actually I’ll add my shopairpurifiers site does crap, it has huge margin but has never been marketed as Amazon does do well - fancy a crack?
