Sales reps? Where to find......
Discussion
OK, got an amazing new product - the fruits of 18 months of work.
Now, where do I find some really good sales agents/reps?
Field of expertise is home/garden lighting - DIY stores, electrical wholesalers etc.
I seem to remember there being a website dedicated to sales reps but can't seem to be able to find it.

Hope it takes off well for you.
Never tried them but I've got www.sales-agents.com/ listed in my favourites.
I'd be interested to hear how you - or any one else - gets on as it's something I'd be interested in looking at myself. In my case, the service is a specialised survey service (with engineering & energy efficiency implications) that sells into Local Authorities, large factory/hospital sites etc and it'd probably work best for someone already selling into those sectors as an add-on - I don't think there's enough opportunity to support a full-time sales bod but if I can just up the sales level on a payment by results structure then it could do me quite nicely.
I looked into sales agents a while back for the IT Support side of the biz but only got one (timewasting) response to the ad (in the press, not the above site) so interested to hear other experiences.
Good luck with the new product.

British Agents Register (not be confused with the F1 team of the same acronym!) is a place to start. Google should get you introduced.
Agent Base (already suggested at www.sales-agents.com) are worth contacting too.
The problem is that although there is a healthy market for commission only sales reps in the US, over here of the 4,000 or so that exist, most are opportunists. I have heard from several well informed sources that there are probably only 200 people in the UK who take it seriously and are any good. Even assuming you can find the best ons, you have to align with what they are selling and the contacts they have. I hesitate to say it's a risky business, as it's no win no fee, but if you waste that much time finding them and are then in their hands as to whether they can be arsed, that isn't good news for a business dependent on revenues from sales.
You may want to look at contract sales teams that you PAY to go and sell, but that are already proven with happy clients. Try www.inelinesales.co.uk
Good luck!
