Insuring a van for a business (any driver)
Discussion
I wonder if someone on here can help with this query, a search didn't turn up anything relevant.
I own a stake in a small Ltd. company and do a bit of work helping out from time to time transporting equipment, building, dropping off etc.
We are looking to aquire an LWB Transit Van to transport equipment, as from our calculations its easier and cheaper to buy an old van say from eBay or autotrader, run it for 6-12 months and scrap it or sell it on rather than keep hiring one all the time or leasing one (we prob would only be using it once or twice a week so a lease isn't that cost-effective)
So if we aquired a reasonable van for about £800, tax, mot, 3rd party insurance for 12 months would mean we maybe didn't spend more than 1300/year. which is less than we currently spend hiring vans with all the associated hassle of short notice and availability (try getting a van for a last minute saturday job at 6pm on a Friday!)
Now - we will obviously need to insure it - we are thinking just 3rd party but we want it to be insured for any-driver - from a quick google all the online quote engines seem to ask for a name and address - which to my mind ties the insurance to a specific person - we need it against the company with any-driver insurance.
Anyone done this in the past - any tips on who to go to?
