Mt company is about to launch a new software product and is struggling to come up with an appropriate name. The problem is that our R&D centre is not in an English speaking country so their suggestions tend to be unimaginative because of their limited vocabulary.

Without boring you, the product is a reporting facility aimed at operational managers who frequently require information from a number of different systems such as accounting software (e.g. Sage or SUN), stock control software and customer information systems e.g. Siebel to be presented all on one screen. This is then linked into Outlook and Google to provide an all-in-one desktop system for information on any business function.

As it is designed to allow managers to make better decisions my suggestion was ACUMEN but my overseas chaps didn't know what this meant Their suggestion is In-Focus which is pretty poor IMO

Anyone have a good name for a product that gives managers their own view on the part of the business they are responsible for??? Rich...

Seriously though, would be interested in the technology you're using. PM me if you'd prefer. As an independant in BI solutions I'm always interested if there's a good product out there I can introduce to clients

Well one of your competitors from your products description is called Orbis Intelliware In Focus may get confused with several other software products already called Focus or have Focus in there name or the InFocus projectors.

Here are few suggestions:

Compendium
Precis
BroadView
Pandect
BirdsEye

That's a great idea and I would agree but I think there are already many software companies and products called Clarity (same problem with InFocus)

How about

"A Reporting Facility For Operational Managers Who Frequently Require Information From A Number Of Different Systems"

Quite snappy - but it certainly does "what it says on the tin"........

Yes, as Dashboard Manager is one of Business Objects' and, surprised you didn't pick this up, Enterprise Planner is one of yours too!
But they do what richb said his new product does too..
