Off the shelf...
Discussion
I have a new contract starting monday but I need to be my own limited company.
I have ditched Giant, but need to set something up asap.
I called the local business link but they dont have anyone employed in that department till feb as they are negotiating contracts. They cant even give me a list of accountants.
So. where do I go for a quick set up..? and an honest accountant..?

You can form your own company with Companies House, and they offer a same day service or a 5 day service:
www.companieshouse.gov.uk/infoAndGuide/companyRegistration.shtml
The Professional Contractors Group has lots of advice
www.pcg.org.uk/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=914&Itemid=390
But you'll never find an honest accountant
except possibly Eric Mc as he is a pistonheader

A looooong time ago I got an off-the-shelf from www.formacompany.com
Just had a look and ready-mades still "start at £115" but the prices do go up considerably. However it is literally a few minutes to do, so depends on how desperate you are. You get all the bits and pieces you need. Obviously you get the name as registered but you can change that at your leisure if so inclined.
I went that route rather than the one day premium service with companies house because (1) it was only £50 more to do and (2) companieshouse.gov.uk has all the information available, but you have to look for it and (c) I'm a lazy sod who's life is measured in hourly increments.
I can happily recommend my accountant too
