Hello all,

I have discovered I have lots of data that was left on some computer systems I purchased as scrap. These old computers (Unix) had, or have as far as I can see, lots of engineering data. I am a CAD/Design chappy, so found this stuff quite interesting.
I am archiving it all now, 100's of GB worth, but wondered if I should call Jaguar to let them know this lot has got out?.

What's the best approach to take, the equipment is worth a great deal to me (Servers, workstations etc), its all Silicon Graphics equipment, so not standard PC stuff. I have already began to use some of it.

Do you have a privacy clause with the people you buy the scrap hardware from, which says that all data will be destroyed/deleted?

If not, then you might be sitting on something very attractive to many people.

No contract, no clauses at all. I understand there is some value in the data, but thats a minefield.

I have now spend a solid day transfering this data. There's another 3 days work at least.

I imagine most of it would be subject to copyright, design right, trademarks and patents so making use of it in any commercial way would be fraught with danger.

A polite enquiry as to whether there might any reward might yield interesting results.

An XKR perhaps?
