Always have been crap at writing letters, however I am needing to send a letter of introduction to a number of potential clients & would appreciate any advice.

You know the kind of thing:

Dear Sirs,

I would like to take this opportunity, blah, blah, blah

Cheers.

I don't know what Davel said in his mail, but I open the post at work and can't be bothered to read long letters. I read the first sentence, skim over the rest of the letter to see if it needs a signature or any urgent action taken. If it doesn't, it goes into a big pile of "stuff to read later" - which I haven't had time to read yet!

My advice would be keep it short and concise. No more than 3 paragraphs.

Totally agree!

I also prefer people to keep their CV's short, precise and interesting too.

Its not really a 'cold call' as such.

The people who I am sending the letters to know they are coming. I just wanted them to look professional, etc.

Done now anyway, so thanks all.
