Can anyone recommend a reliable source of non-geographical phone numbers that can be forwarded/redirected to landline/mobile etc?

With the company I mentioned we had our numbers up and running within 10 minutes of purchase. You can change where the number is diverted to at any time. They also do things like Fax to Email it seems very flexible.

I sorted out some numbers for my wife's startup company with www.businesscommunications.co.uk
Using their "bronze number, option1" scheme, it is all free.

The way we set it up is as follows: 2 people in separate home offices. Each office has a number directed to it. It rings this office for 10 seconds. If not answered, it rings other office. If still no answer, it diverts to voice mail. You can configure to ring up to 5 landlines, and can set how long to ring each line. Re-direct to mobile is chargeable.
Voice mails arrive in your e-mail in-box as a sound five attached to an e-mail. The fax to e-mail service works in a similar way. Specify an e-mail address and the fax arrives as an attached tif file. All set up on-line. Had one issue with getting up and running which was sorted by phone quickly. The whole lot costs absolutely nothing!

Don't suppose any of these services have an option for (press 1 to reach dept X, press 2 to reach dept Y) do they?

I ordered a number from Xero8 . It's run by a PHer; can't remember who, but I got the contact off here about a year ago.

I've also got a couple of numbers with Windsor Telecom.

Never had any problems with either supplier ... although I do keep getting asked about train timetables as one of my numbers is similar to NetworkRails

www.bdm-voice.co.uk or I can organise numbers with other telecoms services. Prices depend on the functionality you want. Let me know.

We supply motor dealers and advertising agencies with non-geo numbers and various associated services. Pretty sure we can spec whatever you need. Mail me through PH and I'll bypass the normal rates ....

www.yac.co.uk. feature rich and free for the basic and 10/mo for the pro version. I've used it for 5 years with the only issue being on the freebie version is some call carriers don't allow access to the number from abroad, but the pro resolves that issue.

Calls like that really annoy 99.9% of the population, especially if they have to pay premium rates to listen to that nonsense...

I appreciate that, but I'm looking for a simple method to route newsdesk calls to Manek who works in a different location to me.

I guess two numbers would solve that
