Who is classed as a "Preferential creditor"?
Discussion
Background
I am a sold trader, consultant engineer, and my main client is a company who has just been put into administration.
I have been asked, by the Administrators, to submit a detailed account of the amount owing to myself and of any claim I may have to being treated as a preferential creditor.
Question
I presume PAYE employees are normally high on the list but where do I stand and what would count as a claim to being a so-called" preferential creditor "?
I doubt I can magically make myself preferential, but I don't want to miss out by under-representing myself.
I like the idea of answers on the back of a five-pound note, but don't ask me to send you the blank notes, as my debtor has them all!
