Using multiple private cars for business
Discussion
Both me and my wife use our private cars for business (we are both directors). The only twist is that we often use each others cars depending on the particular chauffeuring/couriering job.
Obviously we record every business mile travelled but do the revenue expect to see a breakdown of mileage by vehicle or are the happy to see that I have used a private car for x miles and my wife has used a private car for x miles and let us claim the mileage from the company accordingly. Also should we be strict about paying the mileage on a monthly basis or can we do it ad hoc.
Any advice would be gratefully received!
Thanks

I use two personal cars for business use. I always record the reg number, reason for travel and mileage against each trip to be safe but this is more to do with the fact I am only insured to do limited business miles on one car. As long as you have some way of proving you have done the mileage claimed I cant see a problem,
