Does anyone here use one and for what purpose???

I will be launching a website soon and belive that a press officer will help. I have never used one though. Anyone had any experiences they could share with me?

I have heard that milliondollarhomepage.com was sucessful not only from the great idea but after he sold to family and got a few £££'s together he hired a press officer which did most the work.

Sam.

Alex (milliondollarhomepage guy) hired someone to make him a very good press release and to syndicate it. That definitely helped get the news out there.

It all depends what your site does, how it does it, whether its a new/quirky idea etc etc and then how much knowledge you have - whether a press officer will have vast amounts of extra knowledge and then worthy of the fee.

I work in online marketing and for my industry (web hosting) I could easily write up a press release and syndicate it... but then I know the industry. If you've got a good idea of the industry, why not try writing your own and syndicating it about. Judge the response and that could be a good benchmark for the press officer to beat... thus proving their worth.

Good PR people will have contacts that they can exploit to your benefit to secure high profile coverage that you'd never get yourself.

Any reccomendations or a rough idea of cost?

Thanks for the replys

Best to contact a few PR agencies really - prices would vary on one-off or continued support etc etc..

You could try these:- www.pressdispensary.co.uk/

They already have a black book of people and will send it out to loads of people.
