Hi just starting a new company and was trying to work out the best way to claim for a company motorbike ie;courtesy bike, pool bike or just plain company bike?

Bike would only be used for travelling to and from work and work related use.

How much could i claim back?

Thanks Matt

I have a company motorcycle.

For a start, you can recover all or most of the VAT on a new or ex-demonstrator bike, assuming that you are VAT registered. You can also put the running costs through the business and recover VAT on fuel and running costs etc.

As for benefit in kind etc, I'm sure that our expert will be along soon to help you there.

One point though, not many companies are keen to insure your company owned bike so ensure that you can get cover for your needs and that the bike is insured in your company's name.

All of it! Helmet, suits, gloves, sat nav, insurance etc etc etc.

On the insurance front I went through the BMW approved scheme with no problems. I suspect most other manufacturer supported schemes are the same.

we can either insure it in your companies name, or insure it in your name noting that it's own by your company.

Thanks,

the company is a motorcycle sales and repair shop and is Ltd.

Would this work on a second hand bike or just new?
