Hi all,

looking for some legal eagle opinons on a house rental issue

Currently in a house rental prior to moving into a new build 28th July

The rental is for 6 months, taking us to September (couldnt find a shorter term anywhere).

We have 'problem' neighbours (the type we are moving to a select area to get away from - we hope)....

In as much as they are seriously noisy (swearing at the top of their voices both in and out the house, slamming doors, shouting about at 3am, etc) and I even had my last car attacked (though non permanent, utterly disgusting and involving 'baby fluid' and bleach - though obviously could not prove it was them).

I hasten to add I am totally unaware of anything I have done to induce such grief.

My wife was of the distinct impression when talking to one of the owners that they had prior knowledge of our neighbours being 'a bad lot'.

Question is, is there anything we can do to get out of the 6 month contract given all the grief, or it just plain TS?

I sympathise with the situation you have found yourself in… not nice.

Have you approached the landlord and tried a compromise agreement? I recommend you try this route, make up some excuse (like the house is ready, the budgie has died, house is too small) for the reason you want to move and hopefully you can come to some arrangement. It might cost you a bit but it sounds like it would be worth it.

Failing that you could take your tenancy agreement and get some advice from a lettings agency? They might be able to help.

Otherwise dig deep and go and see a solicitor.

Regards,
Richard.

Thanks mate,

I'm looking into this now, though past few weeks do seem quieter - maybe theyve killed each other!
