Does anybody go? Is it worth the massive cost?

I usually just do the free exhibition for a day but feel I am somehow missing something that could change my life, after all the price is enormous and it takes 3 or 4 days of your life.

It costs, wait for it, £1351 for the 3 days as a non member, excluding accomodation, plus £65 for the gala dinner, and £400 if you wabt to do the pre-conference briefing day. Even 1 day is £600. That is more for one day without acomodation than I pay for the 3 days, including accomodation, of my own professional body

They have a few intersting speakers from the US who I guess have charged mega bucks, and a few 'adventurers' who have sailed across and climbed up big things, but it seems steep.

The most amusing session is one called " Strategies for recruiting excellent people" being run jointly with the Home Office (you know, the 'not fit for purpose, leaders are rubbish' Home Office). I would have thought they would have quietly withdrawn.

Can't answer your questions but I am a CIPD member and I have never been. Have you attended any of the local branch events?

Only as a guest speaker as I am not a CIPD member. That was very pleasant, and free!

Potentially useful for networking, and a couple of the big names are interesting to hear speak, but personally I'd give it a miss. Its close to my field but not close enough to warrant the expense, (seems to me to be about the most expensive of these types of things..)
