I've been looking at Sage instant Accounts Package. I have a small Ltd Co and I am a sole trader also. Is there any way of running two sets of accounts on it or does anyone know of any other accounting software that will let me do this?
Thanks
Andrew

If you speak to sage they can offer a 2 company package. (but make sure they don't confuse this with a 2 user agreement which allows 2 users to access the same data at the same time!)

If you phone their sales line they are generally very helpful.

Yes, tried this and they said it would move the cost from about £100 up to over £400 which is a bit steep for my uncomplicated set up! The other option they suggested was to load it on two machines, but I'm not sur I want to do that either!1

suppose if you want to be absolultely legal you could buy instant accounts twice (ie £200) and load it onto 2 machines, or maybe use something like partician magic to put it one same PC twice?

Pain in the arse method but you could do it with different back ups and load the relevant companies backup each time you want to work on it.

I know I say this each time Sage comes up, but I looked at it about 3 years ago and thought it hadnt moved in the 10 years since I last used it as Sage Sovereign

We settled on Hansa Office2 as it was far easier to use, easier to drill down through NL accounts and all sorts.

Fairly certain that the standard offering allows two or even three companies from it, on and adding a second user only cost a nominal fee rather than havign to pay the equivelent of another software pack!

If you are local ABS Systems in Wendover (nr Aylesbury, Bucks) have been great for me.

You can do it as long as you don't mind breaching the licence agreement.

You can add -[data path] after the command line in the shortcut and the program will run with the data path specified. Just create 2 shortcuts, stick in different data paths and you're away.

PS. You never heard that from me

*edit*

Don't think this method will work with v12. There is another option though. The program directory hold a text file called Company. This has the path to the data in it. You can create a second one pointing to a 2nd set of data, then create to batch files to start the program. Just have them rename the company files so that which ever one you want to access is called company when the exe is launched.
