Amaranth's Brian Hunter Lost $5 Billion in a Week, WSJ Says

Sept. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Brian Hunter, a 32-year-old
Canadian energy trader, lost $5 billion in a week for a
Greenwich, Connecticut, hedge fund as he made the wrong bet on
natural gas prices, the Wall Street Journal said today.
Hunter helped cost Amaranth Advisors LLC half of its asset
under management, to $4.5 billion from $9 billion at the
beginning of September, the Journal said. Hunter, who remains a
the fund, wouldn't talk to the newspaper yesterday.
Hunter was ahead by about $2 billion for the year, by the
end of August, the newspaper said. Then in about a week, he los

Amateur, not the first time a hedge fund has punted with such a high VAR.... That may be only part of the story.......if not it is hard to see the other investors hanging around for too much longer.
