Running a business from the Channel Islands

Did anyone see the article on the Channel isles in the Sunday Times?

Suggested that Alderney has all the tax breaks of Jersey and Guernsey but reasonable propery prices and no restrictions for Uk citizens on buying property.

At what point would HMRC accept that you and your business are resident in the channel isles? I know a few people who have their buisinesses registered there as they run international trading companies.
