Ladies and Gents,
Question... My company is involved, amoungst other things, in the world of online gaming. A new device is being launched next year that is being built into what is called a 'set top box' (for example, Freeview is a set top box) that will enable customers to play typical online games on their TV. That is quite smart in itself. However, because of the technology, no one else will be able to promote games via this 'channel'(thus captive audience), and additionally as some of the games don't lend themselves to the TV format, we will be able to advertise our website where more games can be played.
However to do this we need a small cash injection (for development) in exchange for a few percentage points on the equity side..
I am aware of Angels....the amount we need is far too small for VC's and banks ask far too many questions.
Any ideas, or anyone with a few pounds that they wish to gamble with - please get in touch...
Questions - by all means PM me.
Cheers
David

The amount will be in the region of 100k - which is, in our opinion/experience is too small for the VC community. As to credit card/unsecured loan - not really appropriate given the amount.
We don't mind answering questions as the business opportunity is extremely atractive! We would prefer investment for equity from a like-minded individual who can appreciate what we are doing, rather than a bank however.

A good business angel will ask as many questions as a VC or a bank.
The best 'no questions' approach is a friends and family round or raised through equity on your property, however you are doing yourself a dis-service if you don't write a decent business plan (and if you have written one it should answer the banks questions, so you might as well go the bank route!)
In my experience there are no shortcuts to success!

The general concept of what you are trying to do sounds interesting because I also have some involvement in on-line gaming industry and believe that moving these activities from the Computer to the TV is a very good idea. I agree with previous 'speakers' though in that every sensible investor will want to ask a number of questions before parting with their cash. Like GatesOfHell; I have some experience in raising funds but my immediate concern about this opportunity is how you intent to market this product? It may be a great idea new invention but you need to sell it….

What your talking about sounds like an IPTV format, I did some recruitment for this area a few weeks ago and found some really good networking sites. If you find someone that understands the industry and its potential, you might get a more positive response.
I can dig the urls out for you tomorrow if its helpful.

I am also interested, but from the other direction.
We provide home networking solutions for developers (working with the likes of Plotloss) so we are interested in the solution and how it communicates with the outside world because if it needs broadband access then we can provide that in the fabric of the home.
However we are 3 years in and also looking for investment for marketing and personel expansion as with the advent of VoIP and IPTV there is going to be far more demand for networked homes.
Very interested in the solution you are developing and would be interested to learn more about it if you can share the details.

Sorry to drag this post to the top of the list again...
I had a PC crash, and lost a bunch of emails etc...a couple of these were from PistonHeaders who showed interest in this activity. One of whom I have emailed (GatesOf Hell) but there was someone else who PM'ed me - and I can't remember who it was. So if it was you who had wanted more info on this opportunuity, PM again - or make yourself known via this post...
Cheers
