will it be too noisy? will it get damaged by chairs on wheels? Any experience of it here?

My main worry would be friction, or the lack of rather... wheelie chairs will slide on it quite a bit which is a bit awkward. You may need one of those rubber floor protection mats to get some grip.

We have a wooden floor in the study and throughout the house, its not noisy really.

a fat arse like me with chairs on rollers will damage the floor- go on ask me how i know

also quite noisy if you have ladies with heels working in your office- although rugs can fix that.

You could get these wall to wall rugs you know.. they are held to the floor by grips that run along each wall hehe

hehe I was thinking that too!

someone was telling me about rubber mats to stop your chair ruining the floor, and to give it some more grip, but I would have thought they will make the office look like a bath with one of those shower mats in them?

i;ve got one of those mats under me as i type- it was the only way to protect the carpet lol

they are pretty unnoticeable actually- and nigh on indestructible- i'm 22 stone (it's all muscle honest- too many years playing rugby) and my chair hasn't managed to mark it at all- i wouldn't like to think of the PSI being infliceted on the poor thing either!

There are clearly not enough girls on here (or men who wear high heels yikes )

Wood laminate floors (presumably what you're talking about?) can be really slippy in high heels - the firm I used to work for had one in the cafe area and quite a number of girls took a tumble on the floor.

You'd need to do a risk assessment of it I'm sure..

hey hey!

Wooden floors look nice but are cold and slippery. They are noisy too esp if you have high heeled workers around you. Clomp clomp stomp would drive me crazy! If you have an option cork tiles that are painted to look like wood or slate is good too as its also quite forgiving and wont dent as much. Modern woven carpets are still the best for office environments IMO !

Are you talking about a proper wooden floor or that laminate sh1te that passes for flooring in too many offices? Not only does it look and feel awful but it is much more slippery that the real thing.

I've had laminate in an office, but with a mat under the office chair. You can get any size or type of carpet made into a mat at a carpet shop. You'd need that even with carpet IMO as the wheels will wear out whatever is under them

13 years late to a thread, that's quite an achievement.

I honestly don’t know what happened there, I only look at what’s new so no idea how that post popped up.

Anyway I hope OP solved his carpet/laminate problem
