Hi Guys,
My company is asking me to go and work in OMAN for a period of 5 to 10 weeks.

Does anybody know what sort of money UK people in oman can expect to recieve. (I'm a commissioning engineer for water processing plants). I suspect my low 20,000's salary is substantially lower than the going rate!

Any info or experiances gladly recieved.

Cheers
Phil

Spent a lot of time over the last year or so in Oman bid work for me. Top place, still fairly 'arab' unlike Dubiai et al, top friendly people and bloody hot in summer . Best place in the middle East IMHO.
Haven't got a clue as to local wages though, we have guys working on other projects there and they go on UK basic + 45% + 'staffed' house + car + flights home etc, nice earner for some, lonely for others.

^ Wot he said!

No idea what wages are like now but my Dad was a Project Manager in construction in the mid-eighties and we weren't poor.
Back then it was tax free too. Don't know what the rules are now though.
