means I'm glad we went for fixed rate on our mortgage a month ago
Same here - got a fixed rate for the next 3 years (had it nearly 2 years now), so although it might not work out to be the cheapest way to do it - at least I know EXACTLY what my mortgage payment will be until 2009, by which time I'll be rolling in cash anyway (so says the 5 year plan)!
Variable at present. Not too bothered. Lost out with a fixed rate many years ago and haven't bothered since. All the guys in the office who took out fixed a couple of years ago have been overpaying for that whole time until now as opposed to 0.5% over base.
When it notches up another 2% I'll be getting worried!
