Does anyone know if the Youth Training Scheme of old still exists?

And if so does anyone have any experience of it.

I need a few trainee office admin types.

Cheers Sean

Hi Sean

It’s now called a Modern Apprenticeship and is administrated via local training providers who are in turn subsidized by the Dept for Education & Skills. The DfES will give you a list of such providers.

Expect to pay a lot more that the old £30 per week! (Probably £90 - £150 per week depending on location, maybe more in London)

We tried to engage an M.A. a few years back when we setting the business up, and funds were tight, however the quality was awful so we gave up. I now just engage temps when I need additional resource (circa £500 per week from an agency) but they are just so much better at doing a proper job.

Ultimately you get what you pay for.

Good luck with the search.
