Speaking to a mate who works in conferencing and he mentioned they have a few freelancers on their books doing IT support and setup for conferences. Sounds like something I could do, lot of experience doing office IT infrastructure / networks etc.

I'm curious where IT manager types look to recruit people for that sort of role. I realise a most will be word of mouth, but are there any websites where you can register? I assume they won't be searching CV's on career sites like monster/jobserve.

I have a friend that does this type of work, most of his stuff is sourced through jobserve.com

You're right, most of this stuff (in my experience) goes by word of mouth.

You do get the odd short-term job come up on Jobserve - you won't fill a diary like this but there's every chance of building contacts and getting repeat business either from the paying customer or the agency concerned.
