I have recently started as the Marketing Manager for a company which uses up over one third of its marketing budget on corporate events. So far it's usually take a group of 20-25 clients out to the Football or Rugby, then on for a meal and then on the pi$$ until the early hours. This seems to be working well but I'd like to know what other ideas people have for this sort of thing.

Just wondering what events you have held or been on which stood out from the rest?

What's you budget?

I have done:

karting - great fun and very good for people who don't know each other as everybody can talk about the race / their driving which 'breaks the ice'
punting - very relaxing and nobody can get away from you (unless they want to get wet)
scalextrix evening (not done but planned)
televised race horse evening (not done but planned)
snooker - smaller groups, plenty of time to chat
pool - larger groups/tournament
wine tastings - plenty of time to chat and relax

and the usual golf/lunch/dinner/football/rugby etc etc.

would like to do a dinner followed by casino but very £££ - thought about bowling too.

the only thing i've not managed to get through our risk team was hot air ballooning - absolutely no where the client can go for a couple of hours to avoid your pitch!

there's plenty of things to do, think of a group activity and you can normally get away with it!

Thanks. The budget is about £20K per annum.

I have got the Cricket and horseracing to look into also.

Corpprate box at greyhounds is relatively cheap, but depends on your market.

Stripclubs go down well with me

The best ones my team have been on have been a day at Silverstone driving loads of cars, and a full day at Ascot.

We are currently sorting a box out for the Oval/Lords for a test next summer at the moment - that sounds a good day but not cheap at around £500/head for the day.
