A mate of mine is being pressured to move to permanent employee with his current contract client.

He has been offered £65K - Anyone willing to hazard a guess what the total package cost will be, by the time sickness, pension, holiday, training, etc.. is taken into account?

Is it still around 30%-40% of gross?

There are some very good PAYE calculators available on the internet. Do a Google search under "PAYE Calculator UK" (you don't want to use an Irish PAYE calculator by mistake) and you get a list of different quick calculators.

Hi Eric

I think you misunderstand. He is trying to compare his current contract and permie offer. He knows what he has earned for the last 12 months via them and he now wants to see how that compares to a £65k plus the usual benefits i.e. sickness, pension, training, etc..

Does that make sense?

I think I do - but I haven't the time at the moment to do any calculations on such matter.

Self Assessment deadlime looming etc etc.
