Alternatively you can also talk to A57 HSV on here. He's helped me out in the past on various things with great results. Link to his profile, where you can mail him:

ANy of you guys do Euro lending for a development/refurb in France?
Yup I do! What do you need?
Adrian
Hi Adrian
I've emailed minimax offline, but need an alternative source of finance for a French refurb/development. Total project costs circa £250k for the refurb or £750k for the newbuild.
Email me on jfrancas@boltblue.com
Cheers

I hear there may be yet another interest rate rise on Thursday. Although it is highly unlikely, I would recommend that you shop around for quotes tomorrow. If they stick or drop, then spend some more time looking for a deal that suits you.
If you don't expect to move within the next 2 years I would suggest a fixed rate mortgage for 2 years that doesn't have a tie in after the 2 years is up. And whether you choose a product that has a very low rate and a fee (typically £900 or so) or a slightly higher rate but no fee will depend on whether or not you expect to overpay. If you don't, then you may as wellgo for whichever is cheaper PCM after the fee is added to the mortgage.
I'm not an expert by any means but I did have a rather long interview with a lender today... just in case IR's go up. I'll be selling my place soon so I chose to get a mortgage in principal before Thursday.
I think www.moneysupermarket.co.uk (I assume that's the url) is a good place to compare products.

An agreement in principle will not necessarily hold a rate for you in the event of a rise.. You might want to check that with your chosen lender.
Moneysupermarket is fne for generic advice, ut they dont take individual circumstances into acount. Particulalrly if you are faced with the possibility of Higherl lending charges I've found.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't so much ask if a change in BoE's base rate would make a difference to my agrrement, but I did ask if the agreement would be valid until I complete in a couple of months or so, to which he assured it would.
I will myself try a few more lenders. I thought I should first ask my present lender because I would halve the redemption fee for transferring my btl mortgage to a residential mortgage with them. It's only a saving of £370 or so but I will be left with quite a small mortgage (£30k or so) and so every few hundred pounds makes a difference.

There is an expectation that rates will be changing at the weekend (followig a BoE base rate rise). If you are expecting a certain fixed rate your mortgage application needs to be agreed and any booking fee paid. If not very unlikely to get the quoted rate.

sorry for reviveing and old thread but Any of you good old boys tell me whether I can keep my mortgage I have now,Sell my house and take out another for a new property?
Or do I have to remortgage for for the whole lot i want to borrow for new property.
Cheers
BB
Is there going to be a gap between the new property and the old one? If so you will have to redeem your mortgage, and then start a new one. (if you are tied in this cold result in you paying early redemption charges.)Or do I have to remortgage for for the whole lot i want to borrow for new property.
Cheers

However if you are going to sell your house, and buy a new one all at the same time then provided your mortgage is portable you can move it with you, and assuming your finances are in the right shape, take out the extra you may need to buy the new home. Oh and you have mail.
