Insurance Ombudsman type query
Discussion
Sorry, bit long this one!
I'm having an ongoing problem with the Royal Mail about a parcel sent to New Zealand by "International Signed for" - the interesting feature of this service I now discover is that whilst the local post provider will obtain a signature they are under no obligation to provide it or even to confirm that they got a signature!!
The recipient of my parcel says that the parcel hasn't arrived, the PO delivery system says "delivered".
I now appear to be shafted - RM say it was delivered so even though I paid extra to increase the insurance cover I can't claim on the cover because they say it was delivered. They have told Postwatch that they can't query this with the NZ postal authority as that would be questioning their integrity!!
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether I have an insurance ombudsman angle on the insurance angle of this in any way?
I was clearly mis-sold the product as I stated I needed to be able to prove delivery (it was a dodgy ebay purchase I was returning for a refund) as I was concerned that the parcel "wouldn't arrive" with the recipient. The RM just say "thank you for bringing a training need to our attention"
and...it's apparently not possible to sue the RM for breach of contract or in tort.....
Any thoughts gratefully received!
