Hi All,

Looking for a big vehicle floor space wise, but driveable on a car license. Any ideas?

Cargo will be of low weight if that is an issue...

many thanks

I think the best you will get is a 3.5t luton van...

I think you're right on the 3.5 tonne Luton thing, it was more bed size that I was interested in.

i.e.: I want the longest vehicle that comes under that capacity...

thanks a lot

a Merc Vario is bigger than a Sprinter... I 'think' that qualifies...

1/1/97 is the cut off for your licence. If your licence is pre that you can drive up to a 7.5 tonner, if not it's 3.5 tonnes. (The larger Sprinters can be bigger than 3.5 tonnes)

I passed in Jan 98 so how can I get group C added to my license?

Take a test! 3.5 tonne is a fair size though.

That is quite a daft and remarkable rule. Couldn't believe it when a friend told me a few years ago.

Thinking laterally for the OP could he get similar results for his project by towing a large trailer behind a 4x4? Not sure whhat he is looking for, but it implies he almost wants a display setup, so a trailer might be better suited?

The 3.5 Tonne limit is one of the reasons why most motorhomes sold in the UK show max unladen weight of less than 3.5 Tonne.

(It's LICENCE, by the way - sorry I couldn't resist ).

Basically you can't get an HGV licence if you wear spectacles. They might fall off hence causing you to loose vision apparetnly!

But it's still OK for all us old gits who wear glasses to keep on driving HGVs as we have the experience to keep them on. rolleyes
