What qhalifications are re3quired to perform PAT testing for a third party?
I have tried the IEE and HSE but they don't give much away for free, they would rather sell you a guide.
I feel okay about doing PAT in house but for a third party for money, thane I'm wary.
I feel confident and competent, I'm an ex Aircraft Electrician.
Just want to cover my back in a letigious society.

Guideline only state that you have to be a "competent person" to carry out PAT Testing.

However in the industry the qualification generally recognised is City & Guilds 2377.

Interestingly enough I was recently tasked with some PAT stuff. The testing device came with some interesting instructions, such as wrapping a laptop in tin foil etc and using this to get a particular reading.

When I tried to find what this or any other reading should be in order to be determined to be "safe", I couldn't find the slightest bit of information. Net result, no thanks, some other sucker can take that responsibility.
