One of the guys at work is performing a management function by default as he's been in the role the longest. He mentors his colleagues and provides the usual reporting to me. Unlike the other managers in the company he's not done it before nor had any formal training.

What I'm after is recommendations for management and leadership courses suitable for a 1st line manager.

Has anyone had any good experiences with companies based in London / SE. We're in Hertfordshire.

Many Thanks

Not sure what they now call it but there used to be a NEBSS course designed for first line managers and offered by most colleges. It also gives some accrediited prior learning to go on to do more formal qualifications as I recall. Basics of management; basic law, project management, budgeting, coaching, report writing etc.

I have been on many varied and different courses and most of them have been rubbish.

If your man has an open mind and you want a lasting change in him then do this one, there is no comparison: www.leadership.co.uk/
