This probably sounds like a daft question, but not as daft as it seems.

The company van needs a mobile phone handsfree kit, and after spending an afternoon pulling the dash apart, we have discovered that Fiat have perfect length wiring looms, where you cannot break into them easily. The problem is that the after market cruise control thats fitted (absolute life saver) has used the only available live cables that we could of broken into, and I'm not about to break into the cruise control's wiring loom.

The alternative is to break into the fuse box in some heath robinson fashion. Thats not going to happen. I despise what some people do in the name of cutting corners.

My final alternative is to change the stereo for a Bluetooth compatible stereo.

So, the question is, can I put it through the books?

Personally, I wouldn't care, but getting points on my license from driving with a mobile phone is not really an option any longer. All my other vehicles have dedicated bluetooth handsfree adaptors which went through the business, but a stereo just seems like we are pushing it.

Yay or Nay?

i dont see why not, as a bluetooth kit would be allowable. Also radio can be used for traffic reports etc so is required.

I have put both Parrot Bluetooth Stereos and car kits in all of our vans and these have all gone through the books, partly as they will be removed when the vehicle is sold and used again.

Just Car kits sell the loom adaptors for every vehicle mesaning you will not have to butcher the car.

The stereos are far easier to use as there are no extra boxes to hide behind the dash, I also fitted Boom mikes as vans are noisy.

Good luck
