We currently have an advertisement for a position within our company. It politely states "No Agencies Please".

A certain company which helps <cough>Computery-type-People</cough> to get a job phoned us this morning offering their services in response to the advert. When challenged that the adversitement states "no agencies please", they replied "most people don't actually mean it".

If we didn't mean it, then we wouldn't place the notice there, would we?!! mad

How the hell can you get the message across? I have a good mind to send them a bill for wasting my time (which includes posting my rant on here)!

So you begrudge sombody trying to make a living, and possibly seeing if they can offer you another alternative?

When I was in the game, I picked up quite a lot of new clients by ringing ads that said 'no agencies please'. If they could offer you the right person for a fee that was cheaper than all the man hours involved with advertising, sifting CV's, Interviewing, salary negotiation etc etc etc... then surely thats a good deal?

Have to agree, it was very ignorant of the agent to imply that you didn't mean what you said hehe

Gotta love trainee consultants

They deserve to make a living as much as anyone (except lawyers of course), but they don't need to scrape the barrel so much.

I used to go with 10%, but they're all getting greedy and demanding 20 or 25%. No chance.

If you can do 10% (web developer role [asp, xslt, sql server, asp.net]) feel free to PM me

Try 30%

I know fella's who can look after your developer role. They work with Thales and LogicaCMG and know their onions. They might cut you a deal dependent on package being offered. Is this contract or Perm?
