Hi guys.

My wife has a number of 'different' kinds of shares in the company for which she works. As the company is being bought out she has to sell them all in one go rather than spreading them over years to reduce CGT

Some are SAYE and some are options that would have matured in Nov 08 but if the buyout happens then she will have to exercise these at the time of buyout. These may be offered as loan notes.

Q; Am I corect in thinking that shares that an employee holds in their company are defined as a 'business asset' and so attract business asset taper relief?

Many thanks
